One evening my husband was back home from work a little earlier than usual and we had an opportunity to go to one of our favourite beaches.

Once there, we ran on the damp inviting beach sand, saw birds flying in the familiar skies, touched and held some crabs and shells, saw the lighter dry sand flying over the heavier wet sand as it was being lifted by strong gusts of wind and as the sun slowly began to set.

God’s beautiful creation was displaying His unmatchable glory all around us.

Amongst these multiple external displays of His majesty, I also got to witness some of His beautiful work in the creation of motherhood. My almost 3 year old baby girl gave into squeals of excitement as she ran towards the crashing waves but froze suddenly right as they reached her knees, unwilling to go any further. Her excitement turned into fear which made her cling onto me. As I supported her body and made my presence felt I witnessed a quick and complete transformation, she leaned into the waves and walked further deeper in with the same excited squeals again.

What changed in the past 30 seconds?

My close presence.

Her trust in me and the comfort she had in my presence gave her not only the courage to face the big waves but also the joy that was hidden within the experience.
What a beautiful reminder of the comfort we have in our trustworthy, never changing almighty God whose ability of taking our fears and turning it into joyful experiences is unmatchable.

Will you turn to Him and cling on?
