Hello hello faithful readers(yes, the 2 of you)
I am uploading the documentation of July in November and that is crazy but I just had a baby so I’m excusing myself from this self imposed inconsequential deadline for a short season.
We have been doing school and I have been documenting it on my phone(more or less) but I have not had the time to compile the blog on here.
We had 2 rounds of viral sickness in July. I got it both times and being 8 months pregnant, it was hard. We did get some school done though and it was all enjoyable.
Nature/science/Poetry
The girls joined a nature club that they do once a week. This has added elements of outdoor time, social interaction, love for nature and life skills in their education. It’s also a special day for them to spend with their dad. They climb trees, swim in lakes, make rope swings for trees and just spend time in nature observing the biodiversity. Ahna drew a porcupine since she picked up a quail on one of her walks. We also read a poem about it.

Math
Math concepts of counting and grouping are going well. Although I would like to do this with a lot more hands on activities, currently, this works for the season of life we are in. And by God’s grace, Ahna loves her books and learns well through them too.

Cards and letters
She received some letters for her birthday from family and was so amused to be seeing them and reading them. It’s wonderful to me that she sees this as a loving gesture and a means of communication in this day and age. Letters and cards are just so special.
She’s been diligent while making cards for orders for cookies and cards. Even though there may not be much variety in her ideas for each card, I encourage her to be consistent and diligent with it.

Finger knitting
We did a mini unit on finger knitting and she made herself a hair band. We watched a YouTube video that teaches this design and both of us learned it together. Hoping to do a few more this year.

Reading and art and love
We’ve continued our reading and some art activities. Ahna has also been listening to audio stories almost everyday.
Ahna has shown a sudden growth in her read aloud comprehension level so we have added a few chapter books to our reading.
We have also been enjoying game nights with her once in a while and it has been such joy to be able to connect with her in this new way. We play snakes and ladders as a family.
Bye bye! See you when I see you.
